When a cat can look down at you from a catwalk it builds their self-confidence. When a cat looks down over you, it feels superior to you,in control of you & everything in the house.This dates back to a primordial instinct: the cat could pounce onto whatever was below it. The cat feels it has the superior vantage point. Also the cat can finally look you right in your eyes, instead always looking at your ankles.
